Nine skaters competed in this 3 day event, January 27-29. Olds Skating Club would like to congratulate each of its members along with Coach Charlsey Whittemore and Coach Carol McLean-Pion on a job well done!

The action started on Friday with Samantha Powell (gold) and Allison Land (bronze). Saturday brought a single skater, Hayley Hall (gold) out along with coach Charlsey Whittemore. These 3 skaters are coached by Charlsey who has been a member with our club for 4 years now. She has been a student, CanSkate Coach and is our newest StarSkate coach. These girls did a terrific job!

Sunday was a very busy day for our skaters as Madison Byrt (bronze), Allison Mertens (gold), Cadence Wenc-McIntyre (gold), Lauren Mertens (gold & bronze), Gracie Hodgson (gold xs 2) all came home with hardware. Thanks go out to our newest CanSkate Group + Coach, Carol McLean-Pion. She has given each of these skaters dedication, direction and love of Figure Skating. Carol has been a long time coach, but had to leave for awhile and we are so excited to have her join our club. Her energy and drive for the sport shows!

Sunday was a big day for Jaida Dollo (gold) who was our youngest competitor. She did a terrific job showing her skills in a continuous format and wowed the judges. Her coach Jacqueline Berild has done a great job putting it all together for Jaida to compete. Jacqueline is our newest CanSkate coach who is a skater herself in the StarSkate session. Along with her assistant Janae Sincennes, a StarSkater herslef, these young ladies/skaters, show true commitment towards the Olds Skating Club. We appreciate how they are giving back and rounding out the coaching staff.

Come out March 25 at 1pm to see these individuals and more showcase “BLADES OVER BROADWAY”. This will be a showstopper and we invite all the community members to come check out what the Olds Skating Club has to offer. A carnival worthy of glory days with a Broadway twist.

The club now has a bin at the bottle depot, any bottle or can or milk jug refundable items can be placed in our bin, which is located in the donation room in the far back corner by the emergency exit. We appreciate any refundable items you choose to drop off in our bin.
